Doug is a predominantly self taught landscape artist. Since retiring from the Armed Forces in 2020 he has embarked on numerous courses with a variety of professional artists to refine his passion for capturing landscapes, both painting outdoors and in the studio. 

He paints in oils, watercolour and acrylic, largely of subjects around the South West of England where he has spent the majority of his free time. Currently settled in Woodbury, Devon, the surrounding countryside provides a myriad of material to draw on; much of his work involves coastal or water based scenes.
